Who is in your drivers seat? 🤔

When you arrive the shining exterior and technical brilliance of the new cars are hard to resist. You spot one car and it just blows your mind with all the add-ons it comes with; parking sensors, DVD player and electrical seats. This car doesn't just have cup holders it has a built-in coffee machine.

The car is amazing, but it has one alterable deficiency. It will only function if it has intelligent driver behind the wheel. Without a driver this car is just something to look at.

In case you haven't figured it out yet we are the new cars. In order to function properly, we need an intelligent driver. (Who is in your drivers seat?)

As humans we function best when we let God be in the driver's seat.

If we cut ourselves off from the source of divine love and power (trying to drive ourselves), it's like a tree losing its roots. A car needs a driver; a tree needs roots; and we need God.

When man cut themselves off from their source of being (God) life becomes empty, meaningless, without purpose. So when God goes, goal goes, when goal goes, meaning goes, when meaning goes value goes and life turns dead. (Just something to look at)

But when God "the root of our being" takes the wheel, starts the engine, revs the motor, steers us in the right direction and feeds us the right amount of fuel. Life happens, purpose comes alive, value is restored.

Here are a few reasons why God should be in your driver's seat.

  • He has been driving the longest (experience) - Psalms 93:2.

Is there any danger, any trouble, any situation or circumstance that God has not seen in his existence?

  • He knows the best route - Exodus

Have you ever learned that the path God chooses for you is not the best one?

  • He has been down this road before (knows the road code) - Hebrews 4:15

IfJesus stayed obedient on every road the father sent him on, can he not help you learn obedience (road code)?

  • He has a perfect driving record - 2 Samuel 22:31

Never. Not even once in the Infinity of his existence has God taken a wrong turn and I don't believe he will start now. Do you really believe you're going to be the person with whom God takes a wrong turn?

There will be times you'll come close to a collision, but when you allow God in the " driver's seat" your brakes will work every time. You might Panic a little (that often comes with the territory) but I can guarantee that if you allow God to do his thing he will work it out in your favor. You are bound to come across a few potholes daily and they may seem to come in many different shape, form or sizes. That speed bump might catch you off-guard. You might crash and can't figure out how to bounce back or how to pay that insurance bill. Sometimes, it feels as if the engine stops working altogether.

Here are a few things to keep in mind in those moments:

  1. Trust God - without realizing it we put a lot of trust in our cars ( whether you take a taxi or own a vehicle) we expected it to get us from point A to point B (that is the purpose of a car) allow your trust in God to become just as instinctive Proverbs 3:5-6

  2. Believe that God is working things out in your favor - it may not seem that way at the moment, and " our favor" may mean we have more peace, or wisdom, or Joy or greater understanding. Whatever it means for your situation, if God is answering it it is what's best. Romans 8:28

  3. Try not to panic - panicking does nothing but add to your trauma. God's will is still God's will. Isaiah 41:13

  4. Don't quit - when we Collide we have two choices; you can either pull over and turn your car off or keep pushing. Do not stop, go through it. 2 Chronicles 15:7

I pray that you keep going even after a collision. Allow God to lead you through whatever it is that you're dealing with. Remember, keep God in the driver's seat.
