What Christ Offers

Have you ever asked yourself, "is it really worth it to fellow Christ?" Have you ever compared what you get with what those the world get? You look around and see people devoting their lives to the pleasures of this world and often they seem to be having the time of their lives, if you have found yourself questioning your fellowship with Christ here is a reminder for you:

Christ called us to turn from sin and the pursuit of the things of this world. "So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:35

Other refence: 1 John 2:15, Matthew 6:24

Main Text: Luke 18: 28-30

"Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.

And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,

Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting."

What the world offers:

TEMPORY. UNSATISFYING pleasure

"Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;" - Hebrews 11:25

But with Christ:

  • There is fullness of Joy and pleasures forevermore "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." -Psalm 16:11

  • There is peace "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." -John 14:27

  • There is satisfaction "For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness." -Psalm 107:9

  • There is abundant life "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." -John 10:10

  • There is forgiveness of sin "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." -Romans 8:1

  • There is eternal life "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." -John 3:16
