True Worship

What is Worship?

Worship is reverence towards God or a sacred object, It may also be described as regard with extravagant respect, honor or devotion.

True worship is valuing or treasuring God above all things.

Truly defining worship proves to be sort of difficult because it is both an attitude and an act.

"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." - John 4:23-24

That is true worship takes place in the heart and spirit of the believer. Worship in truth connects the spirit of the worshipper with the truth about God and his work of redemption as revealed in Jesus Christ and the scriptures.

"The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth." - Psalms 145:18

The Bible Warns Against False Worship

Here are Some Instances:

"And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word." - 1 Kings 18:21

"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." -Matthew 6:24

"Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:" - Isaiah 29:13
