The Heart of a Godly Mother

The Bible has quite a lot to say about mothers. Here are a few examples:

Eve – the mother of all living (Gen. 3:20) [was taught motherhood by God]

Eve was the first woman and the first mother. Without a single role model or mentor, she paved the maternal way to become "Mother of All the Living." Her name means "living thing," or "life."

Sarah – a mother of many nations (Gen. 17:16) [From Beauty Queen to Motherhood]

Sarah was one of the most important women in the Bible. She was the wife of Abraham, which made her the mother of the nation of Israel. She shared in Abraham's journey to the Promised Land and all of the promises God would fulfil there.

Mary – mother of Jesus [Gentle, virtuous, pleasing to God]

Mary was the most honored mother in the Bible, the human mother of Jesus, who saved the world from its sins. Although she was only a young, humble peasant, Mary accepted God's will for her life.

Mary suffered enormous shame and pain, yet never doubted her Son for a moment. Mary stands as highly favored by God, a shining example of obedience and submission to the Father's will.

The heart of a godly mother is a reflection of the heart of God, based on the examples above we can conclude that the heart of a Godly mother is one who:

1. Takes care of her home

She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. - Proverbs 31:27

a godly woman should seek the good of her household and do what she can to support it.

2. Is wise and kind in nature

She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. - Proverbs 31:26

A godly woman remembers that her words have meaning and that caring for her home and family is of the utmost importance. She uses her words to build up and not tear down.

3. Fears the lord

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. - Proverbs 31:30

Rather than focusing on outward beauty or appealing to other people, a godly woman focuses on God first.

4. Takes care of those in need

She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. - Proverbs 31:20

A godly woman is as generous as possible, making it a practice to give to those in need.

A godly woman explores all of Scripture, keeps the mind and heart of God close to her own, and remains faithful in all things.

5. She is not idle

She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. - Proverbs 31:27

A godly mother take care of the household and has no time for idleness (she barely even have any time for herself) takeing care of the family has become an important job to her

In light of these and many other references to moms in the Bible, I would say a mother’s heart is very important to God.
