CONDITIONAL PROMISES OF GOD

Ever since the beginning of Enlighten Ministries we've been talking about the promises the God and but we never emphasize the conditions, I feel like we skipped very important context that would determine the outcome of these promises.

This might seems new to most of you but the reality is...…if someone promises you something they are expecting something in return (most times) and you will hear persons say it all the time "if you do this.....then am gonna do this in return" and we do understand that God is not a man but God has standards and we are expected to live by them. God promises has conditions.

without further ado lets get right into it:

Psalm 37:4 - Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. ( The only the thing people tend to get from this scripture is that god is going to give them everything they desire the condition here is that you have to "delight yourself in the Lord" take pleasure in pleasing God)

Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (This one is very popular, one of my personal favorite. Yes God promised to direct your paths but he has three conditions

1. Trust him completely

2. Don't depend on your understanding

3. whatsoever you do go to God first)

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (God will cleanse and forgive only if we acknowledge our sins)

Isaiah 40:31 - But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Another favorite and well known promise, what we tend get from this scripture God will strengthen me, I will sore like the eagle, I will not be weary and I will not faint on my Christian walk. I mean we are not wrong but we have to wait on God, we have to surrender totally to him.)

2 Chronicles 7:14 - If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (As much as we repeat this scripture we ignore the context, If we acknowledge our mistakes and limitations, pray and seek God, and turn away from sins then God will forgive us and heal our land.)

As children of the most high God we are entitled to God's promises and blessings but God's promises are not automatic, he is not obligated to us, we have to begin to develop a Godly character in order to see the reward of God's promises.
