Too many people believe that Christianity is a passive faith, they assume that the duties of a believer ends once they recites the sinner's prayer.
Unfortunately those who think this way often resume the same lifestyle they were living before being saved.
Christianity is no walk in the park you have to be deliberate in your faith, there are no shortcuts in your personal walk with Jesus.
To be intentional is "ACTION WITH PURPOSE", creating an intentional life involves self-reflection and focus.
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." - Romans 12:2
We cannot be transformed the way God intends us to when we fit in with the world.
Knowing who God is and his words are crucial to our intentional living.
Intentional living means to give up on ones own will, refusing to be self-focused and partnering with God to guide your life.
"A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps." - Proverbs 16:9
Steps to being intentional:
knowing the word of God (We cannot bear fruits without first sitting at the feet of Jesus).
Keep your eyes on God (Look to him for directions).
Keep in step with the Holy Spirit (Fellow His lead closely).
Living intentionally can take a whole lot time and effort however it can be quite rewarding:
He gives us peace that exceeds anything we can understand "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:7
His peace eliminates fear and worries "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." - John 14:27
It should be every Christian's desire to live intentionally. Our conduct reflects on our Lord; we should want to be the best representative for Jesus as we can be.
